ADMIN Mistake
I accidentally assigned a flocked fic for our next reading. While I'm straightening that out, I need more fic suggestions in both the Buffyverse and Firefly. Remember that shorter fics get more attention. I also have issues with navigating the Firefly Glow archive. If the story's a multiparter, I find it nearly impossible to determine which part comes next. If you rec a fic that lives only there, please link me to the individual chapters in the order in which they should be read. Thanks guys.

Remember you must ask author permission.

That's flocked? I totally remember reccing that. ::checks:: Okay, on her website that seems to no longer exist. Well that's unfortunate. (Especially since it's not the only thing of hers I have recced.)

Sorry. :\ I plan to unlock all my fic when I have a spare moment.

Have we done any fics by musesfool or fox1013? They're both prolific writers whose works are fairly short, and I bet they'd give permission. I can poke around their archives looking for one's *I* would particularly like to discuss :)

No we haven't. I'd love to read some though. Ask away.

that would be me
You know when somebody who's been around for awhile should know something, but doesn't?

Well, what's flocked?

Re: that would be me
It's short for friends-locked ;)

I thought it had something to do with sheep
Oh.

*sigh*

It took me about a month to figure out what "flist" was, too. *rolling eyes, now*

Re: that would be me
I see you've got the answer, but just wanna say that in this comm, no question's a silly one. :)

no silly questions
You know, I've had many teachers who've said there's no such thing as a silly question. Then I became certified as a fire instructor, and started doubting that.

Then I got a job as an emergency dispatcher -- and it only took me a few years of call taking to *know* they were lying. But it's nice that there are people who have an good attitude about answering, shall we say, obvious questions.

Re: no silly questions
Your point is ceded.

*grin*

But it took me ages to figure all these fannish things out, and I certainly don't mind questions. The one that I didn't know and was embarrassed to ask about for a long time was OTP.

here's your sign
Um ... Off Topic Post?

For awhile, whenever someone mentioned OC I thought they were talking about the TV show; very confusing.

But I know these are all reasonable questions. I don't expect to run into anything here like the constant calls I get, where I answer the phone with "Noble County Sheriff's Department", and get the confused voice saying:
"Is this the Sheriff's Department?"

Um, no, this is Pizza Hut. We just answer the phone that way to mess with people.

go directly to burnout
It's one of those, "You have to laugh or you'll cry" things.

Wow. Sorta speechless here.

it gets worse
I'm taking notes. When I retire, I'm going to write a book.

I'd like to suggest dirty_diana's Simon/Inara fic Planetfall. I've obtained author permission, and she's open to con crit.

Great. Thank you.

I've checked to make sure the ones I suggested before are still there and not flocked, and they're all good. I'll see if I can't find a few more, too...

Just found this comm and think it's a great idea. :) Now, if I can be completely shameless and rec my own fic? Haha! I'd actually appreciate some discussion, rather than the "this is nice!" comments I usually get, which are great, but something meatier (and perhaps critical) is sometimes desired.

I'm going to suggest a couple of things, though of course only expect you to read one, if any! But I thought I'd give you a couple of things to pick from.

If you think the club's in a mood for angst, there's Fall Into Life, a Spuffy fic, BTVS post season 7, just over 1000 words, Spike perspective.

There's a slightly fluffy Spike/Dawn friendship (with romantic hints) piece called Magic Dance here - about 1300 words, set post-BTVS season 5.

And a crappily named Dreams and Realisations - BTVS season 7, Spuffy. I picked this one as it's got a slightly "fractured" style and as I didn't get much feedback on it I'd be interested in what readers think.

Will stop rambling now...

Thanks for the fic suggestions; I'm adding them to the queue.
